For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall. For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

Ford have been next to useless on advising whether I can manually adjust the lights for RHD driving on the continent. There seems to be two schools of thought; one that suggests that the lights can be adjusted with a switch behind the light unit and a second that thinks if I turn off the adaptive element of the lights that the beam will be flat

Double Vision. It's next to the outermost bracket you see on the headlight housing on each side of the car. It is actually shaped to accept either an allen type wrench or the #2 phillips style screwdriver. The #2 screwdriver indentations are recessed into the bottom of the allen wrench slot.
